Interesting, may be that is the problem. On Monday I went to buy one, 
but was advised by the shop that they were useless either with the 
aerial it comes with or a full aerial mounted outside, I was further 
told that they were only useful if you were very close to the 
transmitters and I said that I thought they must have a high gain 
pre-amp if they are expected to work with the short whip aerial, the guy 
said no, they were useless. I wonder how close you are to the transmitters.
