I get the same dmesg's all the time and my card works fine.

I had a problem with my nova-t card where when the frontend device was
closed it would quickly lose its lock, so this would work:

dvbtune -f ... && dvbdate

but this would not:

dvbtune -f ...
dvbdate

does the "-i" flag work on dvbtune? does dvbstream work when you use
"-f" to tune it?

when I put mythtv on my box, it keeps the frontend open so data is
always available (though I have to use mythtv to change MUX rather than
dvbtune)
