Is ACPI different in the SuSE kernel from your earlier one?
I had a similar problem (unfortunately I can't remember
which kernel versions), and turning off ACPI for PCI on the
kernel command line cured it, though with the 2.6.11 RT
kernel I'm now running I have no such trouble.
