I just tested on an older laptop with the same Ubuntu MATE 22.04.3. I tried with the latest Linux Kernel build I found: Linux rdiez-L2017 6.8.0-060800rc3-generic #202402041232 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Sun Feb 4 12:41:05 UTC 2024 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux The test text file was corrupted in the same way. In fact, the resulting corrupted file compares (with 'cmp') with the other laptop running 6.5.0-15-generic #15~22.04.1-Ubuntu. Regards, rdiez
