I used to think exactly the same, but think it can be learned. My opinion changed after seeing Omar Rodriguez Lopez Band mixed by ZZ Top's sound engineer using Line6 Stagescape located on stage and an ipad on wifi. One of the best sounds I have ever heard at our venue. And complete band setup and soundcheck took less than an hour.

So feel is nice, but good ears and mobility are more important (assuming reasonable knowledge to begin with) in this case it would seem. That is a neat setup. The ipad use for remote is common, but the simple wifi dongle is not so much, most require a wireless router. It has a pretty nice price point as well so long as one can work with no faders.
