well, it has come to my knowledge that when the file requester dialogs are in use, midi control input ceases to work, eventually. it seems like the file requester dialogs are locking down the event-loop, leaving the rest of the application dead in the limbo.

most importantly, please note that this only occurs when the gtk+ widget style is in effect. yes, qtractor (through qt4) do actually render gtk+ widgets by default where applicable (eg. ubuntu, gnome, xfce). the workaround is to force qtractor to run with any other widget style but gtk+ (eg. `qtractor -style plastique` is my favorite)

back on topic ;) let there be known that the best coding inspiration has come from the distilled genres of malt "beer", specially the ones from the shores of islay--a dram or two of laphroiag or lagavulin suits my taste very well indeed
