On my Sid system, sometimes the UCA comes up on HW:1, sometimes HW:0. On Debian Lenny, telling JACK to use "hw:default" was most consistent, but Sid seems to have changed that. So sometimes hw:1 is the laptop's built-in Intel audio.
Thanks, David! On my Mandriva system, so far the UCA-202 has been consistently hw:1 but hw:default seems to work too, but only in the terminal window I've set AUDIODEV in. Once I'm done with the digitizing, I'm going to look into getting everything to go to the same output.
