Ok, that only made the impression that the "current" version is 
cumbersome, and the "new" version is not ready for use. I guess this 
means I should grap the version in ubuntu 8.04 repo (seq24 seems to 
compile happily with it) which is:

Setting up liblash2 (0.5.4-0ubuntu2)

I'm still not sure if this is the "current" or the "new" lash, though...
