Not suprised, but to be completely fair the SBLive Value does have the
cheapest codecs and worst S/N ratio of all of them.  So that's not an
entirely fair comparison.  It is a $30 sound card after all.

Also did you use the rear channels as your mains?  It's fairly well
documented that the ADC used for the rear channels on sblive cards is
much better quality.
