OK, rebuilt and sound is working much better. Audacity, sox and xmms
all are fine.

However cdplay is not perfect. cdplay plays a disc but no sound is
produced. The problem occurs also with kernel 2.2.20, and with 2.4.24
it won't play, with an error of nodisc. It plays fine in Windows 98.
On a previous installation on this computer it worked fine.

I have the required cable from the CD audio output plugged into the
correct site on the motherboard. I am a member of audio and disk
groups. Could anyone see what the problem might be or is more
information needed? Maybe I'm missing a library.

Thanks, Tim
