you should maybe try dcoredump's version:
It has no GUI (and no VST port), so less potential sources of error. In this version, LV2 parameters are mapped into integer ranges as you would see on a DX7 (i.e. Algorithm 1..32). This might be easier to use from the command line too. As far as I know the Distrho port has only float parameters.
