Hi again!
I have followed Miriam's instructions and ran "sudo make debdist" on
base folder of extracted driver
then I went to ./packages/DEBS/amd64/dgcmodem_1.13_amd64.deb/ and there
I found file "dgcmodem_1.13_i386.deb" and folder with same name (without
.deb)
there I ran "sudo dpkg -i dgcmodem_1.13_i386.deb" and process started
then I got again "ERROR: module build failed!"
as I got at the beginning of all efforts :(
Marv S:
I saw on your first email that you did some minor changes on original
x64 driver for olemis as Miriam was using i386. Does this same drivers
still works for me using an x64?
TIA

Miriam,
Since you have the dgmodem package working in Cuba, would you please
work with Sergitus?
Sergitus,
The first think to check is whether the modem driver is loaded.
Check with:
$ lsmod | grep dgc
If it is not thus displayed, you may need to load it manually with:
$ sudo modprobe DriverName
Copy to Discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx as you progress.

Hi Marv S
Thanks a lot for taking the time to answer me. I used the driver you sent
and installed according to install file instructions with:
- "make install" to recompile
- "dgcconfig" for finishing installation and configuration
all process finished with "done" so it was ok but: (there is always a but :D
)
with "wvdialconf" I still get "no modem found"
with ppp now it let me start connecting but as soon as it sends first AT
commands it says "modem does not answer"
could you please guide me in the right direction?
(I ran ppp as "sudo gnome-ppp") to avoid permission limitations
Thanks a lot again for your help. very appreciated among us who still depend
on modems

All,
To you who received a dgcmodem package from me a few weeks ago, please
discard and use the attached instead.
It can be unpacked with:
$ tar jxf dgc*.tar.bz2
Move into the new folder and read the INSTALL directions.
For Debian/ubuntu/Mint distros, the most inportant directions are at
the top of the paragraphs below. Also I'll next forward the more
detailed report earlier prepared for a similar case.

If you need to rebuild the Debian generic package from source, you can
get the TAR package, and from the top directory run:
$ make debdist".
A pre-compiled DEB package for the currently running kernel can be
built using "make debprecomp" instead.
Produced packages are in the packages/ folder hierarchy.
To install the following command can be used:
$ sudo dpkg -i dgc*.deb
To clean up the internediates of a package.deb assembly, the command is:
$ make debian/rules clean

Yes, the driver package is small enough for me to later send as an

The DGC support package.deb I previously updated for Olemis Lang was
x86_64 specific.
Thus I will have to do some minor changes later today, for Miriam's i686
system.
Likely I can provide the fix by this evening. Now joining some friends
for
breakfast.

Separately I'll send you an updated support package. Lazaro or Cary
may also be helpful.
Neither the cdc_acm or slamr drivers can be helpful and should not be
loaded as they may interfere Preferable uninstall the entire
sl-modem-* packages if they were used to install slamr.
snd_hda_intel is a needed audio driver.
Lazaro& Cary, Mint Linux is an off shoot of Ubuntu, so all the
regular Debian/Ubuntu procedures should be effective. Packages will
be needed to support compiling:
linux-headers-3.2.0-23-generic
linux-headers-3.2.0-23
