SJD, scanModem again does not detect pci modems or usb ones. But to add completeness here, please do as scanModem suggests and send us the output: If your modem is an external USB type, connected by an external serial cable, or mounted internally on an ISA card, then scanModem would not access it. Try with Root permission $ sudo wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf to detect these modem types and some USB modems. If the detection is successful, read the DOCs/wvdial.txt . Edit the /etc/wvdial.conf with Root permission: sudo gedit /etc/wvdial.conf will be able to dial out with Root permission: sudo wvdial Send us output of $ sudo wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf and read carefully the suggestions provided by scanModem: If a cellphone is not detected, see http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-878554.html A sample report is: http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/bigarch/archive-nineth/msg00578.html Thank you for providing output of dmesg. Still I cannot find a line related to the cellphone looked for cd* driver in dmesg, but cannot find it. Regards, Antonio On Wed, Aug 24, 2011 at 3:44 AM, S. J. D <jpalm182@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > >
