Why don't you try the latest version of ltmodem code available?

http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/ltmodem/kernel-2.6/ltmodem-20100102.tar.gz

or otherwise use martian modem driver?

Are you trying to use it for faxing?

If for any reason, the above package does not work, would you kindly
supply us with ModemData.txt to ensure that the driver that you need
is the one that you are using.
