First install the dkms support package, managing compiling and
automatic updating

Then for the Agere 11c1:048c chipset,
get from http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/ltmodem/11c11040/   	
agrsm048pci-2.1.60_20100108_i386.deb
 agrsm-tools_0.0.1_all.deb
 agrsm_howto.txt

Install with:
$ sudo dpkg -i agrsm*.deb
