Hi Guys. So sorry for my misstake , Marvin ! <=Please report to the List, not directly to me.=> @ Jacques. <= Thus I must ask a nasty question: have you succeeded in making a remote modem ring, answer, synchronize, and finally print some text.=> On my test, with Windows, Yes ! I sent lot of faxes successfully. But, on Windows ! The last test I has done show me the driver answers to test tool. With Efax, I got only message about the format of the file I sent. On few hours, offices will be open and I will get a voice call to check if everything is OK. to continue ... ;) ------- Message transféré -------- De: Frederic28 <frederic28@xxxxxxxxx> À: Marvin Stodolsky <marvin.stodolsky@xxxxxxxxx> Sujet: Re: [Fwd: Frederic, France, YourCountry kernel 2.6.32-24-generic] Date: Sun, 15 Aug 2010 20:22:14 +0200 Hey MarvS Good news ! After your step by step, it appear to send FAX ! With the Efax / Efax-GTK (from the compiled release I got from efax-gtk - 3.2.3-2~eugenesan~lucid1 at https://launchpad.net/~eugenesan/+archive/ppa/+packages With the regular version from the ubuntu set, I always got error about document format I attempt to send So, now I have to check with my collegue if the fax sent was OK. I will feed back as soon as possible. Thanks. -------- Message initial -------- De: Marvin Stodolsky <marvin.stodolsky@xxxxxxxxx> À: Frederic28 <frederic28@xxxxxxxxx> Cc: discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sujet: Re: [Fwd: Frederic, France, YourCountry kernel 2.6.32-24-generic] Date: Sun, 15 Aug 2010 13:43:15 -0400 Frederic, The limitations under Linux are frequently that of the driver, not the hardware. Since the Linux code providers, such as Agere/LSI make no profit from the Linux code, they have little motivation in supporting/updating more advanced functions. Thus if the graphic you sent was obtained under Microsoft, there is no gaurantee that the Linux drivers will similarly support the hardware. Thus the earlier advice from A Rinaldi, that a "hardware" controller chipset modem is best under Linux.
