Nothing was attached.
Double check for some readible file.  It might have been to big for gedit.  try
$ less slmodem.log.hw:0,6
in addition for another readible file.

You in your home folder
$ mkdir log
$ cd log
$ sudo slmodemd -c NEW_ZEALAND --debug=2 --log --alsa hw:0,6.
then the logfile will be in your log/  folder
It is OK to zip the logfile before sending to me.
