Should be
$ sudo slmodemd -c USA --alsa hw:0,6
or
$ sudo slmodemd -c USA -a hw:0,6
if not in USA do:
$ slmodemd --help
$ slmodemd --countrylist
to get the correct YOUR_COUNTRY  replacement
