Marv, Kevin: Just a heads up- These crashes/segfaults almost ALWAYS caused by a mismatch between the agrsm driver version and the ALSA version on your computer. Which driver package are you using, and what is the output of 'cat /proc/asound/version'? The ALSA version for my most recently prepared tarball and its derivatives is 1.0.20.
