Kevin, You are using the correct drivers. Try detaching external devices as much as possible before bootup, and shutting down non-essential programs before using the modem. You could check whether the problems begin during a simple activation with: $ sudo wvdialconf wvtest or only during an actual dialout. I'll also send you an "unloading" script, which tries to unload non-essential modules. Also try using it before modem usage as: $ sudo ./unloading Sadly we don't have debugging capability for these drivers, because there is a closed source component.
