David,

Do you have a line

Carrier Check = no

in your /etc/wvdial.conf file?

If not then please make your wvdial.conf file look like

root@slax:~# cat /etc/wvdial.conf
[Dialer Defaults]
Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 X3 &C1 &D2 +MS=90
Modem Type = Analog Modem
Phone = 1234567
ISDN = 0
Username = my_username
Init1 = ATZ
Password = **********
Modem = /dev/ttySL0
Baud = 460800
Carrier Check = No
Stupid Mode = 1

The last line you may put a # on it, if you can connect you may leave
it on. Try that and report back.

This wvdial.conf file I use it across Fedora and Slax as well. It
works for me.

Regards,

Antonio
