There is a component compiled at LSI Inc, thus encrypting there most
crucial Proprietary information.  LSI (which absorbed the former Agere
Systems) will update its Linux code, but typically only when some
major  buyer  of their modem chip will sponsor the additional
development costs.

They are well aware of the lack of x86_64 support.
