siriusb slamr support for the 1057:3052 Modem: Motorola SM56 Data Fax Modem is now best available by installing the packages: dkms , sl-modem-source, sl-modem-daemon in that order. Likely they are not on your install CD, but they can be searched for at http://packages.ubuntu.com/ Once downloaded and copied to your Linux partition, they can be co-installed with: $ sudo dpkg -i *.deb Additional make a file with: $ sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/slamr.conf with the following on a SINGLE LINE (though folded in this email): install slamr modprobe --ignore-install ungrab-winmodem ; modprobe --ignore-install slamr; test -e /dev/slamr0 || (/bin/mknod -m 660 /dev/slamr0 c 242 0 2>/dev/null && chgrp dialout /dev/slamr0) Also set your country with: $ sudo gedit /etc/default/sl-modem-daemon changing USA to HUNGARY Then inform the System with: $ sudo /etc/init.d/sl-modem-daemon restart This may be necessary between successive dialouts also. The modem should be found by $ sudo wvdialconf. See the Smartlink.txt & wvdial.txt in the documentation for further details.
