your modem is supported by slamr: Support type needed or chipset: slamr Please download http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/smartlink/Ubuntu/slamr-2.6.27-11-generic.tar.gz extract with $ tar -zxvf slamr-2.6.27-11.generic.tar.gz Then run $ sudo ./setup and the modem should be setup for you. All that would remain is for you to configure your faxing software, of course please test the modem port after installing with $ sudo wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf and then use the port /dev/ttySL0 as the port or make a symbolic link.
