I can confirm that this works perfectly well on my laptop (Acer Aspire
2920Z running Ubuntu 8.10 Kernel 2.6.27-14-generic).

My previous attempt 6 months ago was more complicated (had to modify the
Alsa driver ...). This is really straight forward.
