Michael,

For Ubuntu,you need the .deb variant of Bjorn's good advice. First get
the Ubuntu dkms package, from either your install disk or through
http://packages.ubuntu.com
Then the dkms-agrsm-CurrentVersion.deb
from http://linux.zsolttech.com/linmodem/agrsm/ as contrasted to the
.rpm package.
They can be coin-installed after download with:
$ sudo dpkg -i dkms*.deb.
 See for an example:
     http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/bigarch/archive-eighth/msg03863.html

Lastly from  get the from
http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/ltmodem/11c11040/
get the agrsm-tools_0.0.1_all.deb. It automates symbolic link setup during
$ sudo agrsm-test
