Thanks for the advice. slamr-2..6.27.7-generic worked fine for me. BUT
as you warned I am only able to achieve one dial-out per Linux session
and attempts to restart the sl-modem-daemon have been unsuccessful
Attached is the record of my first dial-out commands and my subsequent
attempts re activate the daemon. Do you know of any other possible
work-arounds?
