This is yet to be a success with these 11c1:048c modems under Linux.
But from  http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/ltmodem/11c11040/
download the agrsm-tools and
agrsm-2.6.27-7-generic_2.6.27-7.14_i386.deb   packages.
Co-install with:
$ sudo dpkg -i *.deb
