I have a 11c1:048c modem on linux 2.6.27.7, and while it doesn't work
with newer drivers, it works just fine with agrsm-20080203 from
http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/ltmodem/sv92, after applying
the uart_info patch I sent to the list recently.

11c1:1040 and 11c1:048c seem to be very different devices. 1040 is
part of a (HDA) sound device, on the motherboard, whereas 048c is a
seperate PCI card (in my case, a Netcomm IN5920).
