Please send to the List, not directly to me, as I'm not online much.Below is a typical wvdial.conf for usage with slmodemd servicedmodems. Compare with yours.
With respect to the PCMCIA card, I don't recognize Manufacture 0279.RE:  Modem interrupt assignment and sharing: 11:      20570    XT-PIC-XT        uhci_hcd:usb1, uhci_hcd:usb2,yenta, yenta, Intel 82801CA-ICH3, eth0, Intel 82801CA-ICH3 ModelT--------Try freeing up resources with by detaching all USB devices.# sudo ifconfig eth0 down# sudo modprobe -r snd-intel*x0m
Watch kernel messages with:$ sudo tail -f /var/log/messages &Remove the PCMCIA card. Wait a few seconds and put it back in. Somechipset identifiers may be output.
Also see if the card may now be detected with:$ sudo wvdialconf  wvtest
