Hi,
I've this problem with my friend modem.
I've tried the Dell drivers but the hsfconfig gave me an error.
it exits saying some thing about kernel source matching the current kernel
I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 and I couldn't find the appropriate kernel
header. It seems installed but the driver doesn't work. what should I
do.
and there is nothing called kernel devel package in the repositories.

For owners of a Dell PCs with Conexant HSF modems, a driver source package with full speed enabled is available, but requires driver compiling. Read DOCs/Conexant.txt
The modem requires a hcflinmodem package.
