I dont want to take your time any more but still have the problem.

Already i have installed agrsm-ubuntu8.04.1-2.6.24-19-generic.tar.gz
But my modem still not working.

 In System > Administration > Network I used the both /dev/modem and
/dev/ttys0 as modem port but my modem still not working.
