Axel,
The ALSA diagostics---------------Codec: Conexant ID 2c06Address: 1Vendor Id: 0x14f12c06----------------now reveal a Conexant 14f12c06 modem chip
At http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/hsf/full/downloads.phpget the hsfmodem-7.68.00.12x86_64full-1.x86_64.rpm.zip
Downloaded packages must be moved into the Linux partition (home folder is OK)and unzipped with:	unzip hsf*.zipThe installation command for a .deb suffic packages is, with root/admpermission:# rpm -i hsf*.rpm
Support for Conexant chips hosted on High Definition Audio cards may requireinstallation of additional packages, one of the alsa-driver-linuxant packageson http://www.linuxant.com/alsa-driver/ At the same time download thealsa-driver-1.0.17-1.patch , in case it prove to be later needed. During thehsfmodem install, there will be a message if there is necessary installation ofalsa-driver-linuxant
The installation command for a .deb suffic packages is, with root/admpermission: alsa* -i hsf*.debwhile for .rpm suffix it is, with: rpm -i hsf*.rpm
There may a message that "Dependencies" are not satisfied. In thiscase the Ubuntu/Debian packages to be installed are linux-libc-dev &libc6-dev. Packagenames may be different for other Linuxes. If not on your install CD, thesepackages can be searched for at http://packages.ubuntu.com. After download, they can be coinstalled with: dpkg -i li*.debAgain try the alsa-driver-linuxant
Since your System isThe ALSA verion is 1.0.16 , these steps are likely not necessary====There may be a message that the patch must be applied. In this case get theftp://ftp.alsa-project.org/pub/driver/alsa-driver-1.0.17.tar.bz2Under Linux, this package is unpacked with:$ tar jxf alsa*.tar.bz2Next the patch is applied with:$ patch -p0 < alsa-driver-1.0.17-1.patch
See http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/bigarch/archive-eighth/msg00838.htmlfor details on compiling and installing replacement snd-hda-intel + itsdependent drivers.
After the installation is completed, rerun the hsfmodem installation.=====
Try to detect the modem with Root permission:# wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.confA reboot may first be necessary.
Browse the wvdial.txt on guidance in doing the edit# gedit /etc/wvdial.conf
Before attempting a dialout, check for open COMM channels# ifconfigShutdown all channels except loopback "lo" , with commands like# ifconfig eth0 downand/or# ifconfig wlan0 down (for wireless)
Then try a dialout with# wvdial
