Hi Antonio, Thanks a lot. It eventually worked. I went to System -> Administration -> Network and removed the DNS used by my broadband ISP. And the thing is working perfect, webpages are opening in a jiffy. :) One last question. Is there some way that I can keep the DNS of the broadband in a deactivated way and use it whenever I use broadband and not type it again. Thanks a lot again. Regards, Krishanu. I am not sure now how to explain this to you. You have to turn off one device to use the other with its configuration and then undo what you did so that the other connection can succeed. > > Regards, > > > > Antonio > > > --- On Fri, 8/1/08, Krishanu Maulik <krishanu@xxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > >> From: Krishanu Maulik <krishanu@xxxxxxxxxxxx> >> Subject: Re: Krishanu Maulik, India kernel 2.6.24-19-generic >> To: olivares14031@xxxxxxxxx >> Cc: discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx >> Date: Friday, August 1, 2008, 1:37 PM >> Here is the report generated as per the commands suggested >> by you. >> >> krishanu@krishanu-reshmi:~$ sudo tail -f /var/log/messages >> Aug 2 01:47:48 krishanu-reshmi kernel: [ 68.610311] PPP >> BSD >> Compression module registered >> Aug 2 01:47:48 krishanu-reshmi kernel: [ 68.671337] PPP >> Deflate >> Compression module registered >> Aug 2 01:47:49 krishanu-reshmi pppd[6093]: local IP >> address 61.2.3.222 >> Aug 2 01:47:49 krishanu-reshmi pppd[6093]: remote IP >> address 61.0.128.86 >> Aug 2 01:47:49 krishanu-reshmi pppd[6093]: primary DNS >> address >> 218.248.240.208 >> Aug 2 01:47:49 krishanu-reshmi pppd[6093]: secondary DNS >> address >> 218.248.240.135 >> Aug 2 01:48:37 krishanu-reshmi pppd[6093]: Terminating on >> signal 15 >> Aug 2 01:48:37 krishanu-reshmi pppd[6093]: Connect time >> 0.8 minutes. >> Aug 2 01:48:37 krishanu-reshmi pppd[6093]: Sent 0 bytes, >> received 0 bytes. >> Aug 2 01:50:09 krishanu-reshmi kernel: [ 87.428596] usb >> 5-1: USB >> disconnect, address 2 >> Aug 2 01:55:10 krishanu-reshmi pppd[6239]: pppd 2.4.4 >> started by root, uid 0 >> Aug 2 01:55:10 krishanu-reshmi pppd[6239]: Using interface >> ppp0 >> Aug 2 01:55:10 krishanu-reshmi pppd[6239]: Connect: ppp0 >> <--> /dev/pts/2 >> Aug 2 01:55:11 krishanu-reshmi pppd[6239]: PAP >> authentication succeeded >> Aug 2 01:55:11 krishanu-reshmi pppd[6239]: local IP >> address 59.88.140.48 >> Aug 2 01:55:11 krishanu-reshmi pppd[6239]: remote IP >> address 218.248.182.40 >> Aug 2 01:55:11 krishanu-reshmi pppd[6239]: primary DNS >> address >> 218.248.240.208 >> Aug 2 01:55:11 krishanu-reshmi pppd[6239]: secondary DNS >> address >> 218.248.240.135 >> >> >> I am not sure if my NetworkManager is running.
