Willow,
Please join the List, as several others are working on the 11c11040
and accumulated information helps.

The general background is that High Definition Audio (HDA) cards like your
8086:27d8 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family)
can host a variety of modem chips on the Subsystems
In the case of your 1179:ff01 Subsystem, there is archival information
that the chip is
the 11c11040 chip fabricated by LSI Inc (formerly Agere Systems)

Since your ALSA version is 1.0.15, you will have to apply the patch to
1.0.15 sources
Instructions for upgrading snd-hda-intel and its dependent driver set
are at: http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/archive-seventh/msg00282.html
In your case you want do download the version 1.0.15 drivers and
libraries packages.

The patch is applied from "in front" of the alsa-drivers-1.0.15 folder.

Jose,
Would you please "make clean" your patched alsa-drivers-1.0.15,
tarball it and give jacques instructions for uploading it, so that
Newbies don't have the to do it.

Also, please gzip the patch and email to Jacques.
It is to easy for plain text patches to get corrupted during download/saving
Applying on my ALSA 1.0.15 sources the first section succeeded,
but the second section failed.
