the diagnostic tool at
http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/modemident.php
does not work. I do not know if the problem is that the laptop cames
with MSVista.
The interesting AT commands are
AT3 Toshiba software modem version 2.1.77
AT5 2.1.77 HDA MB HDA, A3 S-Rev:3 L-Rev 3.2.1
AT7 HDA MB
Does this makes any sense?

Under Microsoft please follow the instructions in SoftModem.txt to
run the modem diagnostic. In particular we need the AT query outputs
and the device designation of the modem card
If it was an Agere modem, it should have been detected within the PCI devices
It would be worth while running the diagnostic tools on
