Not sure what this is doing on your System.  PLease do
$ martian_modem --help
$ martian_modem  --info countries
Note your Country abbreviation, or just for testing use "us" in:
$ sudo martian_modem --country=us
or if not a Ubuntu like System

#  martian_modem --country=us
