Need help The wvdial.conf file appears to contain the correct values. The problem is that it connects on occasion. The changes are better late at night. I know the line works well because my other laptop running windows, connects immediately and stays connected any time of day. I went through the Linmodem "Post Install Problems" page offered by Jacques G., including the trouble shooting section, trying all the possibilities, but no success. I don't know what else to do to test or debug. Farther down is a line containing <<<< Succeeded >>>>>. Below it is the session script. It happened to succeed. Anyway.... the usual routine is as follows.... Starting with slmodemd in one terminal: smaknj@Smaknj-Laptop:~$ sudo slmodemd -c CANADA --alsa hw:0,6 SmartLink Soft Modem: version 2.9.11 Feb 17 2008 09:31:10 symbolic link `/dev/ttySL0' -> `/dev/pts/1' created. modem `hw:0,6' created. TTY is `/dev/pts/1' Use `/dev/ttySL0' as modem device, Ctrl+C for termination. > Followed in a second terminal with: smaknj@Smaknj-Laptop:~$ sudo wvdial WvDial<*1>: WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.56 WvModem<*1>: Cannot get information for serial port.
