Mick THough unusual in UK, NO DIALTONE, can be due to low line voltages. First check than an ordinary phone works on that line, Then try Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 X3 &C1 &D2 with X3 meaning "dial without dialtone" This is commonly needed in Italy MarvS On Feb 3, 2008 11:55 AM, <m.denton@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > Marvin, > > Here is the appropriate wvdial.conf > > [Dialer Defaults] > Modem = /dev/ttySL0 > Baud = 460800 > Init1 = ATZ > # Init1 = ATX > Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0 > Init3 = AT+MS=34 > #Init4 = ATH1 > ISDN = 0 > #New PPPD = yes > Modem Type = Analog Modem > #Phone = **** > Phone = **** > Username = **** > Password = **** > Carrier Check = no > #Stupid Mode = 0 > > and the error log... > > [root@unknown-00-07-95-09-71-29 ~]# slmodemd -c UK --log --debug=2 > /dev/slusb0 > SmartLink Soft Modem: version 2.9.11 Feb 2 2008 21:45:23 > <642.505047> SmartLink Soft Modem: version 2.9.11 Feb 2 2008 21:45:23 > <642.521858> slusb0: startup modem... > <642.538461> slusb0: update termios... > symbolic link `/dev/ttySL0' -> `/dev/pts/4' created. > modem `slusb0' created.
