Your question is answered in the Linux manuals for wvdialconf and wvdial which like for any other Linux command you can read by typing
man wvdialconf
man wvdial
etc...
Easy to remember, man for MANual.

I did move the Carrier Check = no to the default section but that did
not change the outcome. Is that a problem if I keep the phone number,
username and password in a differente section. It's because I'll
travel with the laptop and at each location will be a different number

Any entries in the wvdial.conf [Dialer Default] section, such as
Username daniel@xxxxxxx
Password blah blah

will be replaced by corresponding lines in alternate [Dialer next] sections
when you
$ sudo wvdial next

But do include
Carrier Check = no
in the [Dialer Default] section, to support the ALI5451 modem
or any modem using /dev/pts/N ports

Since your modem is recognized and connecting to your linux system, the only
thing that is missing is:

    Username: daniel@xxxxxxx
    password: blah blah

If your isp is peoplepc then:

     Username: daniel@xxxxxxxxxxxx

If this doesn't work , try the steps written out in this link:

Hi,

I got my ALI 5451 model working using the slmodemd command and I know
it works because I can call my own cell phone but, for some reason,
when trying to connect to my ISP a "timeout while dialing" error
appears and the wvdial goes into a loop.

I'm attaching my wvdial.conf and the screen dump of the wvdial run.
I'm calling the Itel_pira profile and I tryed to have my modem produce
sounds by also using the shh profile but I hear nothing.

Thanks

Daniel
