Hello, Today I tried different ways following hints from Jacques. I disabled lan, removed eth0 with ifconfig eth0 down, I also tried to cancel resolv.conf but still getting the same exact response as in the beginning. Simply looks like my login details are not valid. I tried 2 different ISP just to be on a safe side. None is working and getting the same kind of message. I tried the same ISPs from Win and I connect without any problem. The ISPs I tried are the following: 1) VIRGILIO: www.virgilio.it 2) BEACTIVE: www.beactive.it This is the one where Eutelia is coming up. Eutelia is actually the owner of the ISP that anyway known under the name of beactive. Just to complete my day I tried setting up an old external USR serial modem, with this everything works well and I connect without any problem!! This 0ption could be good to send faxes from home, but not very practical when out. I really would like to get my laptop to work with Ubuntu (and finally live Win only for emergency), but now I'm getting a little frustrated. Here below the log after activating Stupid Mode (ISP Virgilio): >>> WvDial<*1>: WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.56 WvDial<*1>: Initializing modem.
