Hi,
Marvin steps how to uninstall the driver in this state will likely work.
Alternatively, you could also try to boot in "single user mode" and use
'hsfconfig --uninstall' as well.
After you did install the driver and before the root, does the modem
driver was correctly working? While the driver is installed, please send
to support@xxxxxxxxxxxx the output of 'dumpdiag'. Type the following
in a shell:
---
sudo hsfconfig --dumpdiag
---
If that command crashes your machine, please try this one instead:
---
sudo hsfconfig --noprobe --dumpdiag
---
Just send us the generated file located in /tmp ('hsfdiag.txt'). It
might help us solve the problem.

Jonathan is the expert on this software.
If you can't get through a bootup, use the Gutsy install disk as a
rescue disk to uninstall the hsfmodem driver set.
When the Desktop comes up, open a console and
$ sudo su - root
will provide Admin privileges. Assuming your / Linux partition is
(say) /dev/hda4
# mount /dev/hda4 -t ext3 /mnt
will mount the hard driver Linux paritiion
# cd /mnt
# chroot ./ hsfconfig --uninstall
will hopefully run the uninstall. ALternatively you might need to
first find hsfconfig
and specify the full PATH to hsfconfig in the above command.

Hello,
can somebody help me to install proper driver for modem on Acer

I already tried with package

downloaded from http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/hsf/full/downloads.php

manual loading drivers...
The output from scanModem is below.

a softmodem chipset, with both audio+modem supported by a snd-hda-intel driver.
The ALSA diagnostics are written during bootup to /proc/asound/ folders.

For owners of a Dell PCs with Conexant HSF modems, a driver source
package with full speed enabled is available, but requires driver
compiling. Read Conexant.txt
The hsfmodem package serves a great variety of Conexant chipset modems.
From http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/hsf/full/downloads-ubuntu-x86.php
download hsfmodem_VersionSpec_k2.6.22_14_generic_ubuntu_i386.deb.zip
with 2.6.22_14_generic equivalent to
2.6.22-14-generic, your kernel version.
Under Linux unpack with:
$ unzip hsfmodem*.zip
Then install with:
$ sudo dpkg -i hsfmodem*.deb
Subsequently, the modem should be found with
$ sudo wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf
Edit in your personal information with:
$ sudo gedit /etc/wvdial.conf
and try dialing out with:
$ sudo wvdial.
See Testing.txt for details.

The base of the UDEV device file system is: /dev/.udev
Versions adequately match for the compiler installed: 4.1.3

Minimal compiling resources appear complete:
make utility - /usr/bin/make
Compiler version 4.1

However some compilations and executable functions may need additional files,
in the FileNames.h (so called kernel "h"eaders) collection installed
in /usr/include/ .
For martian_modem, additional required packages are libc6-dev (and
for Debian/Ubuntu, linux-libc-dev). The also required headers of
package libc6 are commonly installed by default.
If a driver compilation fails, with message including some lack of
some FileName.h (stdio.h for example), then
Some additional kernel-header files need installation to /usr/include.
The minimal additional packages are libc6-dev
and any of its dependents, under Ubuntu linux-libc-dev
