Antonio,

I tried exactly what you have recommended and I had the same
result. Ungrab-winmodem and slamr modules load ok but
slmodemd gives me the same error.

Anybody already used slmodem specifically with 2.6.20/FC6 kernel?

Subject: SL2800 with 2.6.20-1.2498.fc6

I am trying to use slmodem with a
SmartLink SL2800 PCI ID: 01:05.0

I compiled slmodem succesfully but when it loads,
it doesn't conclude the device detection and slmodemd doesn't load
properly.

Modem information:
01:05.0 Smart Link Ltd. Unknown device 2800
SubSystem: Smart Link Ltd. Unknown device 2801

When loading ungrab-winmodem and slamr modules,
I get from dmesg:

slamr: AMRM0 modem
slamr: probe: 2000:2800 SL2800 modem...

I tried booting with acpi=off, but not success also.

Procedure use:
modprobe ungrab-winmodem
modprobe slamr
slmodemd /dev/slamr0
error: mdm setup: cannot open dev /dev/slamr0: No such device
error: cannot setup device /dev/slamr0

What should I do in this case?

Thanks in advance.

Isamar,

Try to run as SuperUser (su -)
# modprobe ungrab-winmodem
# modprobe slamr
# mkdir -p /dev
# mknod -m 600 /dev/slamr0 c 242 0
# slmodemd -c BRAZIL /dev/slamr0

If you see a message similar to

SmartLink Soft Modem: version 2.9.11 Jun 4 2007 00:14:21
symbolic link `/dev/ttySL0' -> `/dev/pts/2' created.
modem `slamr0' created. TTY is `/dev/pts/2'
Use `/dev/ttySL0' as modem device, Ctrl+C for termination.

You have done it! Otherwise send what you have done and the messages that you are getting back.

Regards,

Antonio
