Sadly, it appears we are blocked
134d:2189  is  PCTel hardware.
There have in some cases been successes with the Smartlink slamr.ko
support.  In other cases failure for reasons obscure.

You will need other modem hardware for service under Linux.
Read the InfoGeneral.txt ouput by scanModem about alternatives.
