Instructions on page http://132.68.73.235/linmodems/post-install.html helped a lot. I had to do this to configure first: Added a line debug in /etc/ppp/options if not already there. (I am not sure, if this step is neccessary.) Executed command wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf (as root). Added line Dial Command = ATDP in /etc/wvdial.conf (to enable pulse dial; tone dial did not work). Then I connected by command wvdial (as root). Ctrl-C to disconnect.
