Re: Modems and Linux

Ajnos,

How is the modem attached, through a USB or serial cable.
Run scanModem again as:
$ sudo ./scanModem
and send us the ModemData.txt.

Also read the SoftModem.txt for directions on who to accomplish modem
diagnostics under a Microsoft boot.

If it is attached by a cable to a serial port, it should be detected
under Linux by:
$ sudo wvdialconf  /etc/wvdial.conf

Hi Marvin,

I bought a hardware modem with an Intel chipset. It is a SpeedCom Series 56K
Modem. Same brand as my software modem, just the hardware version. I typed
in the code in your last reply and it said that no modem was detected. I am
a complete newbie to linux and have no idea what I am doing. What code do I
need to enter to configure this hardware modem? I have been struggling with
this for over a week, every programme I install keeps failing or can't find
the modem. HELP!!!!

Regards,
Jason
