Ajnos, It is definitely NOT a Intel537 type modem. You may as well unintstall those drivers. Try to run the modem diagnostics under Microsoft, as described in the SoftModem.txt. Also from http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/hsf/full/downloads-ubuntu-x86.php download the hsfmodem_7.60.00.02full_k2.6.17_10_generic_ubuntu_i386.deb.zip Under Linux unpack with: $ unzip hsf*.zip Try an install with: $ sudo hsf*.deb It it succeeds, it is a Conexant chipset modem. Marv, The modem is not USB it is an internal partial hardware modem. It works by hardware but has software for extra features but I think the core dialing is done by the hardware. I have run Scan Modem again and attached are the dmesg.txt and ModemData.txt. When I tried to install a driver as per these instructions https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DialupModemHowto/Intel537EP as soon as I typed "make 537" it failed to build the driver. The error returned was that it couldn't find 537core.lib. Which driver should I be using for the type of Modem that has come up in the txt files? Or if it is a proper chipset modem, what are the commands to configure it? This modem is a new one that I had put in since I last sent you the modem data files.
