MARV: fix needed in current scanModem:
"The modem has a supported Lucent/Agere Mars or Apollo DSP (digital
signal processing) chipset. Support packages for 2.6.n kernels are at:
http://phep2.technion.ac.il/linmodems/packages/ltmodem/kernel-2.6/martian/"
but http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/ltmodem/kernel-2.6
contains drivers prior to martian, in particular a dummy file named:
"Go_to_martian_for_kernels_above_2.6.12 "
j75080:
take the most recent non-martian file ltmodem-2.6-alk-8.tar.bz2 from
http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/ltmodem/kernel-2.6
Note the message in that directory:
"Go_to_martian_for_kernels_above_2.6.12 "
Unpack with tar jxf ltmodem-2.6-alk-8.tar.bz2
Enter driver directory cd ltmodem-2.6-alk-8
And follow instructions therein.

I have an Agere.DSP internal modem in my HP Compaq Laptop running on a
Red Hat
Enterprise Linux 4 WS system kernel 2.6.9-42.0.8.EL which I am trying
to find
modem driver. The scanModem output suggests using a martian driver, but
when I
tried to rebuild the martian rpm drivers I received an error stating a
kernel >=
2.6.13 was needed. I looked at the ltmodem packages, but could not
determine
which one was needed for this kernel. Could you provide me with the
correct
driver needed?
