From current Archives The soft modem Subsystem 1014:0223under controller 8086:2486 82801CA/CAM AC97 ICH3has AgereSystems codec SIL27It will be supported by your driver snd-intel8x0mand the slmodemd helper.
Download from http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/smartlink/ the package SLMODEMD.gcc4.tar.gz having a compiled slmodemd. Unpack under Linux with: $ tar zxf SLMODEMD.gcc4.tar.gz and read instructions therein. But briefly, the modem is setup with command: sudo slmodemd -c CHINA --alsa modem:1 reporting dynamic creation of ports: /dev/ttySL0 --> /dev/pts/N , with N some number Read Smartlink.txt and Modem/YourSystem.txt for follow through guidance.
Get a current scanModem from http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/it will output Smartlink.txt and Modem/YourSystem.txt
Your version 2005_April_19 is outdated!!Please inform whatever site you got it from to FREQUENTLY get updates from http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/ ,or BETTER, set a URL link to it.
