Robert, For PCI slot PCI ID SubsystemID Name ---------- --------- --------- -------------- 00:1e.3 8086:266d 103c:099c Modem: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW the failure of further diagnostics suggests that it likley has a Conexant chipset. Try the hsfmodem package from www.linuxant.com MarvS scanModem maintainer. On 12/28/06, Jacques Goldberg <Jacques.Goldberg@xxxxxxx> wrote:
Robert, May it be that you have forgotten to run scanModem as ROOT (i.e. becoming root with command su before starting scanModem)? Also please send ModemData.txt ONLY. When scanModem starts, please carefully read the screen which may tell you to run scanModem twice, and how. You will then probably get a complete diagnostic telling you how to install the driver SLMODEMD.gcc4.tar.gz from http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/smartlink which contains all necessary additional instructions. snd-intel8x0m is probably already loaded in memory (/sbin/lsmod will show) and then you just need to start slmodemd in some window LEAVE IT RUNNING and use wvdialconf and wvdial, or if you prefer kppp, to get connected.
